Get the exact search volume
When using Google Keyword Planner, the average monthly search volume is typically displayed as a wide range:
There is a vast difference between 10,000 and 100,000, so that’s a bit annoying.
A life hack for using Keyword Planner has, however, been discovered by savvy users.
- Choose the keyword whose search volume you want to know
- On the “Add to Plan” screen, click the blue button
- From the left-hand menu, click “Plan Overview.”
In the table that appears, you will see your selected keyword. You need to pay attention to the Impressions column.
We currently receive more traffic than three weeks ago when this keyword became more popular. Now that we can see that 1,886 is quite a bit closer to 1,000 than 10,000, it will be easier to monitor that keyword and prevent this from reoccurring.
This degree of precision can be advantageous to your marketing plans and budget.
Find keywords related to a website.
For that keyword planner won’t be helpful to you. It provides you with alternatives that very closely resemble your search phrase.
Let’s assume, for illustration, that your company sells t-shirts. Here you can see what searches retrieve with the seed t-shirt.
Many search results you’re seeking are generic, and you will likely be contemplating t-shirts.
Let’s try a different approach. Instead of starting with Start with Keywords, let’s use Start with a Website and enter the URL of a competitor. In this example and competitor that competitor is teepublic.com.
The lights-up long-tail keyword that matters less is now added to the new keyword list we get.
As you can observe, this method is a very effective and beneficial tool in uncovering search terms your competitors rank for, which you would not have otherwise.

- This data can also be downloaded as a CSV file.
- It is possible to edit the file name for the Google Sheets download option and specify where the file should be saved in your drive.

We arrange our data in decreasing order
based on the average search volume.

Last but not least, I will highlight a few free keyword research alternatives.
A different tool called Soovle is followed a lot like what we are doing right now. By typing a keyword that interests you in the center, Soovle generates keyword ideas that can be used for search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and YouTube.
“AnswerThePublic” is a popular alternative tool for “Questions.” It gives us “compare,” “prepositions,” “related keywords,” and “general questions” that relate to what we type in.
Type your keyword into the search box on the website, then click on Search.
The questions highlighted in the results section contain distinct variations of the phrase used in the remarketing keyword you entered. Clicking on any of them reveals a drop-down menu with related questions on those topics.
For each group, we have the starting point in common, with the least frequent one getting lighter as it goes along.
This tool also includes keyword ideas we can use in our Google Ads campaigns. It has more content creation ideas as well.

- (Check out Reddit’s front page to see what’s popular)
Provide Quality Score Estimates
Since Keyword Planner doesn’t understand which keywords correspond with which landing page of yours, it can’t provide you Quality Scores estimates. To see those scores, you must access the Google Ads platform separately.
Multiply Keyword Lists
An AdWords keyword planner function used to have an option to modify the list of keywords by appending them to each other. Formerly, using this AdWords tool, you could generate a variety of permutations because you could multiply the keyword lists. However, this specific functionality is no longer part of the Keyword Planner.

Although Google AdWords neared the date when this helpful feature was taken away, you can still use Google Analytics for this information.

Display Ads:
You might think the best way to convey a piece of information to social media users is via a website, an app, or text. One way to play on networks is to get text, image, or video ads on sites or apps with a relatively large number of users.
